Imagine waking up to the warm hospitality of Albany House B&B in Peel where comfort, cleanliness and privacy are waiting to envelop you. Every sunrise is matched with a glorious sunset and few of us can resist the nightly need to slip between clean sheets in a comfy bed for a good night’s sleep. Rested and rejuvenated, the prospect of a fine, filling and full breakfast can rarely be denied.

With there being so much to do in and around Peel we’d highly recommend booking at least a couple of nights.

 

What to do …….on the west coast.

Walk

When was the last time you walked up Peel Hill?  The views are stunning it’s a lovely walk up to the Corrin’s folly and on your way back pop into The Creek or The Peveril and enjoy a well earned drink.

Nikki has some great walking routes which she can share with you for the west coast.  Enjoy walks along the old railway track, the Raad ny follian coastal walks,  or the beautiful waterfalls at Glen Helen, Glen Maye & Spooty Vane.    We will lend you OS Maps, route plans, there are a couple of walking poles too.  Walking boots are an asset but not usually essential in the summer.   Pack lunches and picnic hampers available too!

Want to get active on your Peel staycation?  Peel Golf club is a 10 minute walk away, superb 18hole golf course awaits. Head to South Barrule plantation, near Foxdale.  There is a host of leisure activities including Ape Mann, Laser Mayhem, Segway , Quadbikes and best of all Axe throwing!  It’s Ace!

If you have your bikes with you, then you can try out the various plantations around the west,  South Barrule, Glen Rushen, Archallagan have great all have great mountain bike tracks. Or head along the Old Railway Track from Peel to Douglas.  We have a secure courtyard at the back of Albany House, there is also an outdoor shower to wash anything down.

We’ll give you a free pass so that you can visit at your leisure Peel Castle & The House of Manannan, wander around Peel with the Peel Heritage Strolls booklet.  At St Johns there is the Arboretum,Tynwald Hill and Cooily y Ree. Don’t forget you can pop into Tynwald Mills for a spot of shopping!   Kirk Michael see the amazing Manx Crosses in Kirk Michael Church.  Visit the ducks at Bishops Court Glen.  At Patrick visit Knockaloe Visitors centre and learn more about the Internment camp.  Enjoy the spectacular views at Niarbyl.

Oh what luxury we have in Peel for food.  From Fish & Chips on the beach, to great pub grub at The Creek, The Marine & The Highwayman.  Exotic flavours of the Royal India & The Jade Harbour and fine dining at Filbey’s or the Boatyard, and for a hidden gem “The Central”.   Which will your favourite be?  Here is the link to all our foodie information for Peel.

Relax

Alternatively just chill out.  Wander down to the harbour and sit and watch the world go by with an ice cream.  We have beach towels if you fancy a dip.  The Cathedral is directly opposite the house and house beautiful gardens to wander round.  Alternatively we have a comfy guest lounge for you to use and staying in bed all day is permitted!
